Poem a Day 2015 #11 – Losing his Mind

Poem number 11 for April 2015. I tried various writing exercises today, but nothing very interesting came from them. Then I found some scribbles in an old notebook. Old notebooks are great. And came up with this:

Losing his mind

her husband’s mind

was always elsewhere

she followed him

discreetly one day

to see what

he was up to

he didn’t notice her following him

because his mind was elsewhere

but she was the one

who found it first

under a rock

in a stream bed

clean and shiny

from the running water

she stared at it

for a long time

decided to move it

to a safer place

but she didn’t

tell her husband

he was never

the same man again
